CANThe Cycling Advocates of Nipissing (CAN) is an active working group under Discovery Routes Trails Organization. CAN is comprised of community members with skills and abilities to advocate for cycling in our region and is supported by and is a consolidated voice for the broader cycling community and membership. It is a member of the Ontario Cycling Advocates Network administered by Share The Road Cycling Coalition.

As of the Fall of 2014, CAN is just getting started.  If you are interested in cycling issues across Nipissing and the Province of Ontario, you can participate in a variety of ways.

AMAZING! we are already 98 cyclists registered for the WEST NIPISSING CYCLE FOR CHARITY on Sunday June 4th 2017!
Cyclists are from all over Ontario - Gloucester, Sturgeon Falls, Verner, Cornwall, Hanmer, Sudbury, Collingwood, ,Lavigne, Redbridge, Val Caron, North Bay, Ottawa, Warren, Cache Bay, Haileybury, Field, Crystal Falls, New Liskeard, Calendar, Eldee, Greater Toronto and Temiscaming Quebec.

As the cycling season is coming into full swing, we are organizing a large season kick off / critical mass ride during the Saturday morning group ride in two weeks on May 13th.
Like we had done two summers ago, we will be departing from Cycleworks at 10am, with a controlled pace until Callander following the usual group ride route. There will be refreshments for riders supplied in Astorville by the awesome North Star Travelling Café!
We hope to also provide some imaging of the day as in past years.

Update on the West Nipissing Cycle for Charity Bike Ride scheduled for June 4th 2017.

Registrations are rolling in and we would like to have as many registered as possible by May 15th 2017. This allows us to properly prepare the right number of meals, be ready logistically for the Bike Ride and provide you with your free gift.

Thank you to those who have sponsored a Rider and those who have Registered to Ride.

June is proclaimed as Cycling month in Ontario and our Mayor has proclaimed the week of June 4th to the June 10th as cycling week in West Nipissing.

This year's charity is a good cause, in partnership with the West Nipissing Community Health Centre we will purchase bikes for disadvantaged youth.

Your Bike Ride is the only fully supported event for cyclist in Northeastern Ontario. All you need is your bike, helmet and your smile we look after the rest

The West Nipissing Community Health Centre will be on location providing info and welcoming you at the start and at the end of Ride, creating a festive mood, with music, water and goodies.

Giant Bicycles, who manufacture bikes, will be on site for the day promoting the latest in cycling technology.

The Comfy Kloset will be on location selling active wear for women.

Our oldest registered rider is 86 years young and the youngest is 10 years old.

Registrations are from all over Ontario that is Sturgeon Falls, Verner, Cornwall, Hamner, Sudbury, Collingwood,,Lavigne, Redbridge, Val Caron, Temiscaming, North Bay, Ottawa,Warren,Cache Bay and Greater Toronto.
