Job Posting: Student Trail Programs Assistant – one position available
Eligibility: The project is part of the Government of Canada’s summer employment program known as Canada Summer Jobs. To be eligible, youth must:
- be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the beginning of employment;
- be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act* [S.C. 2001, c. 27]; and,
- have a Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada according to the relevant provincial legislation and regulations.
*International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent resident.

Job Description: The student Trail Programs Assistant works under the supervision of Discovery Routes’ Executive Director. The individual will assist with the coordination and delivery of the ReCycle Bikes donation program and other trail activities throughout the summer.
Tasks that the student will be involved with include but are not limited to:
- Assisting with the collection and distribution of donated bicycles;
- Outreach to community partners involved in trails;
- Assisting in promotion of trails for hiking, paddling and cycling through social media and other online platforms;
- Assisting with trail events and programming;
- Other duties as assigned.
The position will involve a combination of administration and hands-on physical work.
Wage: $17.20/ hour based on a 28-hour work week for 10 weeks or equivalent total hours commencing in May 2025. Additional hours may be available depending on funding. Evening and some weekend work will be required.
Location: The student will be required to work varying schedules at two locations: Discovery Routes office at 205 Main Street East in North Bay and the Laurentian Ski Hill Lower Lodge on Ski Club Road in North Bay.
